Not only was Metis the fastest to respond, they were also by far the most organized, professional, and helpful. Worked with Mētis for 7 months on a renovation of two floors of our house and was continuously impressed with the level of professionalism and craftsmanship displayed by them throughout. Detailed and thoughtful throughout, they were amazing to work with despite the difficult supply chain and subcontractor availability issues that everyone is facing. Mētis came highly recommended to as a contractor that built too many restaurants. We are very happy that we got to use them to help with all the TI improvement for our Tanoor in Seattle restaurant. Josh was extremely courteous and responsive. Unlike the contractor who built our Sammamish location, this project was well built and on time. We made too many change requests and still all requests were accommodated for and nicely handled. Feel free to stop by Tanoor restaurant in Seattle to see the beautiful work they did for us. I am sure once we open for dine-in this winter, Tanoor will be the talk of town for how beautiful of a setting and design it is. Tanoor and Mētis partnered together on this design-build project and we are very proud to show case our restaurant to everyone interested.

We used Mētis for our home remodel and deck upgrade over the last year and a half and had a great experience! We did a main floor addition off the back of our house (added a master bedroom and bath) and remodeled our kitchen last year, and just completed the upgraded deck space a few weeks ago. We were newbies to dealing with any sort of construction, so we had a steep learning curve. The Mētis team was super patient with all our questions, very transparent with how pricing was established, communicating costs (with receipts!) along the way, and super reliable. We were very involved with the entire Mētis team that touched our project, and really enjoyed learning about the building process (truly, it was a ton of fun!). It’s a fantastic group of people, and if we ever have another project, we would not hesitate to use them again.
Mētis’ Tom Hall is an outstanding craftsman who went far above and beyond the call of duty while rebuilding our deck. The architecture and design of the deck was very complicated, and presented a number of fabrication challenges. Tom was scrupulously careful in his preparations and measurements, and extremely meticulous in his carpentry: precision cutting, sanding, fastening, and mounting led to a structure with beautiful joinery. The final result looks like an art project! Tom is exceptionally conscientious, has a strong sense of integrity, and is a careful and clear communicator. I would not hesitate to recommend Tom for any remodeling project with difficult, complex construction requirements.

Our construction project began just prior to the shut-downs, the entire Mētis team helped us navigate a difficult situation. We felt trust in our team with Sarah, Josh and Cheng, they created a fun, safe and collaborative environment to bring our vision to life. The Mētis team has tremendous pride in design and craftsmanship which were brought to life with creative, smart details throughout our new home project. Mikel understood our vision clearly and was always practical in his approach coupled with skillful execution. We were impressed by the thoughtful and consistent communication and genuine sense of humor. The company emphasis on values of equality and social justice were another reason to be proud choosing Mētis.
Mētis led the construction on a major backyard project for us that included tons of grading, soil removal, and other demolition. They then had their master carpenter Grant lead the construction of a hot tub pavilion that exceeded all our hopes for the time, care, and quality of materials and labor put into it. We had them coordinate and install (literally!) tons of boulders and stone steps to surround the pavilion. They also crafted a custom large fire pit with custom cover that showed that there isn’t a trade or material that they can’t master. At every decision and step, they were meticulous and thoughtful with wonderful, professional communication. They more or less lived in our backyard for four months and we couldn’t have had a more professional and kind crew move in.
We have used Mētis Construction to do the buildout of both of our Hello Robin cookie shops and if we even open a third, they will be our top choice again. Their staff are skilled, passionate, engaged, reliable and all around good people. They seem to hire for personality type as well as skill set. They are a great fit for our company values and quality standards.

I could not recommend Metis more. They built our restaurant called Como a few years back and recently completed El Encanto this spring.
They are very fair, timley, professional and creative. Additionally, they maintain a very clean workspace. If they have availibity for you right now I would hire them immediately. I felt very lucky they had the time and availibity to work on my projects in this construction market. You won’t be disappointed.

As a community member and business owner in Japantown located in the Chinatown International District, I want to personally thank Metis Construction for the generous donation of installing new panels that are protecting large windows on the Jackson building which have become the canvas for new community artwork . The murals are located at an important thoroughfare at 6th and Jackson where hundreds of commuters, visitors and residents pass through every day. This has given Japantown an opportunity to display exciting new artwork celebrating Japantown/Nihonmachi by Kenji Hamai Stoll. We thank Alki + Marine lumber for donating the materials for this project.
Thank you to the crew and the management of Metis – a huge team of people arrived on a cold Monday morning in December, taking down the old mural artwork and carefully taking some of the panels to the Wing Luke Museum where it will be archived as part of the history of our neighborhood. The next few hours were then used to install with craftsman precision, new refreshed boards. Later that same afternoon a new mural was installed by the community.
It has been transformative with new artwork focusing on celebrating and showcasing the optimism our community feels about our neighborhood. We see people often stopping by to take photos and selfies in front of these inspiring new murals. We worked with Metis to renovate our attic, turning it from a dark one bedroom to a full master suite with a bathroom. They were able to take the vision of our architect and bring it to life with incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail. Their in-house wood shop meant that we could do custom cabinetry throughout in order to maximize the space and ensure a cohesive design. Our builder, Mikel, in particular brought a passionate eye for detail, working through multiple mockups of the tricky parts of the build (including the coolest mirror cabinet you’ve ever seen), and taking obvious joy in building something beautiful and functional.
Our project manager was also a dream, clearly communicating each phase of the build, any requirements from us, and keeping the project moving. Metis also worked with excellent sub-contractors, and came up with an ingenious method for entry in and out which meant we could stay at home (and work at home!) for the duration of the project.
I’ve heard tons of horror stories from friends about renovations, and ours was the absolute opposite. We’re so grateful for the care and incredible work they did for us, and we’d love to work with Metis again!
