Ezra Ducay

Carpenter

Ezra joined the team at Metis in 2020 as a carpenter, quickly demonstrating his eagerness to grow as a builder and become an asset to the company. His first project assignments, Saint Bread and Boat Street, allowed him to showcase his abilities through both carpentry and soft skills. Continuing to grow as a builder; he now finds himself wearing multiple hats – from field carpenter to project engineer. When he’s not busy in the field, Ezra works behind the scenes, assisting our Construction Operations and Accounts departments. Whether it’s fieldwork, pre-construction, or shop maintenance, Ezra’s exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail have provided for a smoother workflow.  You can find some of Ezra’s most recent handiwork at The Bar Method, Treat Cookies, Saint Bread and Pie Bar.

Prior to working for Metis Construction, Ezra spent a little over three years abroad teaching primary school with Annaburg English and EF (English First) before eventually pursuing his career in construction. He graduated from WTC’s carpentry program in the spring of 2020 and used his time there honing his newfound craft. Ezra played an integral role for his graduating class through his support for their first big project with architect Joe Giempetro-Passive Haus.

Having grown up in Seattle, Ezra’s natural inclination towards community involvement includes collaborating with Sawhorse Revolution, Black Farmer’s Collective, and The Service Board to name a few and remains steadfast on being an advocate for social justice. Ezra firmly believes in a proper work-life balance and tends to ground himself through the arts; from painting to writing and photography, as well as maintaining an active lifestyle through hiking, camping, sailing, bouldering, and traveling.
